Peer Tutoring 11/12

“When you get, give. When you learn, teach.”  Maya Angelou

Are you someone who likes……

  • Helping other students?
  • Strengthening your strengths?
  • Expanding your academic and social circles?
  • Learning how the brain works best?
  • Having meaningful experiences to add to your resume?
  • Building crucial “soft” skills?
  • Having a flexible, outside of the time table sechdule?

This linear, 4 credit course is designed to help you learn how to support other students in their learning. The added bonus is that we know that teaching is the best way to learn. By helping others (this feels great), you will also be helping yourself (this feels great too!).

This course will be a blend of in person and online learning. We will have weekly before school meetings to learn skills and strategies that will help you to teach others and also be useful for your own learning.

Peer tutors must be prepared to commit to 2 tutoring sessions per week. The sessions can be before school, at lunch, after school or during a spare block.

We need Peer Tutors who are trustworthy and reliable with skills in the following areas: Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Languages, as well as conversation partners. We can find a place for you, whatever your skill set.
