Do you have a passion for fashion? Is a career in fashion in your future? Fashion Industry 12 is an introduction to the knowledge and development of skills necessary to work in the fashion industry. Students will become familiar with current fashion trends, local designers, the principles of design and complete fashion illustrations. This is not a sewing course.  Many aspects of the fashion industry from elements and principles of design, fashion illustration, textile science, technology and design, ready to wear industry, haute couture, eco-fashion movement, merchandising and retailing will be explored. Post-secondary, entrepreneurial and career opportunities in the exciting field of fashion will be explored. Complex social issues in the fashion and textiles industry: ‘fast fashion’, cultural appropriation, ethical consumerism and labour practices are covered.
