Accounting is the language of business! This is an excellent course for students considering careers in the business sector. Even if you do not want to be an accountant, the language of accounting is everywhere – both in your personal and future work life. You will learn a lot of practical skills in this course.

Grade 11 students will complete the steps of the accounting cycle culminating in the preparation and analysis of financial statements for sole proprietorships and corporations. Students will be able to manage a general journal, post to the ledger, prepare adjusting entries, interpret financial statements and close the accounting cycle.

Grade 12 students will further develop their accounting skills by completing a manual bookkeeping practice set which simulates a real business, learning the different inventory systems for merchandising businesses and accounting for cash.  Students will also learn how to prepare basic income tax returns.
